About Us

LSUSAC is branch 9165 of BSAC - the British Sub-Aqua Club.

We're also the diving club for members of Loughborough Students' Union (hence our name), and by extension Loughborough University.

The branch is run by students, for students. There are also a number of University staff involved in the club, either as diving members, instructors, or committee members. Remember that because the club is not a commercial dive school, the committee are all volunteers - which means you can get involved too. One of the best ways of getting as much as possible out of your membership is by putting as much as possible in!

We cater for all levels of diving experience and qualification - divers with qualifications from agencies other than BSAC are more than welcome through BSAC's crossover scheme.

Although we're based right in the middle of the country, we are fortunate enough to have Stoney Cove, the National Diving Centre just a short trip down the road and Dosthill Quarry only a little further away. We also organise a few longer-distance trips each year - most recently club members have been to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull in Scotland.

We currently meet once a week during term time on Wednesdays - from 1845 there are lecture and classroom sessions, then from 2030 until 2230 we have use of the Loughborough Pool. Pool sessions vary throughout the year but tend to follow the demands of the BSAC Ocean Diver and BSAC Sport Diver courses as our training groups progress towards these qualifications. We have been known, on occasion, to indulge in a quiet (or not!) game of Octopush (you might want to look that one up, too!).
