Training

As a BSAC branch, it's fairly obvious that we follow the BSAC Training Programme.

Each October we start with a new intake of divers, some of whom have previous qualifications with BSAC; some have qualifications with other agencies; the majority however want to learn to dive having never done so before.

This group follows the Ocean Diver course.

Members of the club who gained Ocean Diver qualifications the year before should start the Sports Diver course at some point during the first term (according to availability of instructors).

Those new members with qualifications from other agencies can complete a SALT, or Statement of Alternative Training. We encourage new members to take part in the corresponding training programme to their existing qualification as this will extend your skills and give you experience of the BSAC Club and Branch structure, as well as help you get to know the rest of the club! The branch Diving Officer is responsible for signing off the crossover qualification (and all others) and will apply additional requirements as appropriate.

We also organise Skills Development Courses occasionally in order to boost our members' skills. recently members have completed the following courses:
* Practical Rescue Management
* Oxygen Administration
* Advanced Nitrox Diver
* Compressor Operation
* Mixed Gas Blending
